Storage and handling the plastic ABS Bolson material and support correctly is extremely important to insure proper modelling conditions. Like most rapid prototyping modelling materials, Boslon model and support filaments absorb moisture.

  • Bolson Materials takes extra care to make sure the filament you receive is completely dry. This includes shipping the materials in a vacuum-sealed bag.
  • Do not open sealed bag until you are ready to load materials into the machine.
  • Filament must be kept absolutely dry.
  • Do not leave spool in an open environment. Filament can absorb enough moisture to be unusable in less than one hour.
  • Inspect the sealed bag. Make sure it is tightly sealed with no shipping damage or punctures. Email Bolson Materials support (support@bolsonmaterials.com) for a replacement spool if there is any damage to the sealed bag.
  • Load the material into the machine.
  • Feed the materials into the FDM head.
  • Place the desiccant bags in the dry box with the material spools.
  • Close the latch shut the dry box door. · Adjust the filament seals. (See Mounting a Spool of Material in your machine manual)
  • Spools still holding material must be placed in a sealed airtight container such as a Ziplock bag along with desiccant as soon as they are removed from the machine. This is to prevent moisture absorption.
